New home for Brownies at Devonport Guildhall

Earlier this month, 8th Devonport Guildhall Brownies were welcomed for the first time into their new home for their weekly meetings in Devonport Guildhall.

Sandra Moule has been a Brownie leader for 37 years but was struggling to find a place for the group to meet before coming across the Grade 1 listed building. Identifying the lack of provision for Scouts or Guides in the Devonport area of Plymouth and the hope that the group will attract interest from local girls interested in joining the girlguides.

Sandra has previously been associated with Brownies at St Michael’s Church in Stock and St Bartholomew’s Church in Milehouse, she said, ‘We are extremely pleased to have secured this venue and thank the Guildhall staff for allowing us to embark on this new venture.’

The group is currently made up of 18 girls but hope to increase their numbers soon. Membership is open to all girls between the ages of 7 and 10 years old. They take part in a range of activities from cooking, crafts, theme nights and parties to outdoor activities. The Guildhall is delighted to welcome Sandra and 8th Devonport Guildhall Brownies to Devonport.
