Goodbye Plymouth

I’m sorry things haven’t been perfect on An Ocean Glimmer at the moment, I’ve just been a little preoccupied with moving to a different part of the United Kingdom. Some of you may know that I used to live in Plymouth, a city in the South West of England. I have lived here my whole life, I have ever only known one house, so it’s been a pretty big thing to move five hours.

As I was receiving offers for interviews around the London/Reading area, I thought it would be good to live with my Uncle in Aylesbury. This does mean though I won’t be living with my parents, sisters and the puppy dog, who I will miss dearly. This all means more differences in my life, something I’m needing to get used to. But it’s all a part of growing up, I’m really excited by this especially to experience it with the partner

I feel like I’ve finally settled in and things are looking bright for myself and Peter, who also moved from Plymouth to live with myself in Aylesbury. Which means a new chapter in our lives together, something that I’m hoping will go well. Seeing as I lived in Plymouth for 21 years, I thought I would sum up some of the things I would miss.

Plymouth is such a beautiful city and there’s a lot of things I will miss, but I’ve managed to reel myself in and choose only five things I’ll miss about living in Plymouth.

1. All the Cute Cafes

I feel in Plymouth, I was really lucky to have the variation I had in cafes, we were pretty spoilt for choices. I’m definitely going to miss popping into RumpusCosy, Victuals Cafe, Boston Tea Party and Rockets & Rascals for a nice brew. I loved just popping into town and sitting down with my laptop to just pass the day away with food and coffee. I’ve yet to explore Aylesbury fully but I’ve got my fingers crossed to find some exciting cafes. I can’t want to find some little treasures in the town centre.

2. The Sea

I was very lucky to have the sea on my doorstep and with having this my whole life, I definitely am going to miss living next to the sea! From the town centre, it’s just a five minutes walk to the Plymouth Sound where on a nice day, there are some very nice views. I think soon I’ll start having withdrawal symptoms from not seeing the sea.

3. Friends

I’ve never been one to have many friends, but the friends I do have, I’m always really close to. It’s normally my luck that towards the end of my education, I become really good friends with someone, towards the end of University, I became good friends with Alice Peters, the blogger behind Alice’s Happy Wonderland. We’ve known each other for around five years now as we went to City College Plymouth both studying Media.

It’s only recently that we’ve chatted a lot more, as well as me helping her out with her awesome blog! If you get a chance you should definitely head on over. I am also going to miss everyone from SportsDirect, we’ve become one big happy family and everyone is soo friendly! It’s crazy to think that I’ve been working there for over four years, I’ve met a lot of people, some left to continue their lives and I’ve grown up with a lot of them. There were definitely a lot of laughs to have there.

4. MG Family

If you know me, you’ll sure know that I’m not a girly girl! With the move to Aylesbury, I am definitely going to miss my extended MG Family. During show season, every other weekend there would be a car meet, where we would all get together and just meet up to chat about everything and anything. We were really close to all the admin of MG Rover South West Owners Club which made it even more enjoyable. I can not wait to catch up with them all when we visit Plymouth again.

We are hoping to still attend some of the events, mainly the ones around Bristol and Birmingham as that’s not that far away now. I am already a member of the local MG club here in Aylesbury, so I’m hopeful of making new MG friends but I definitely won’t forget my second family. Those who we shared a special meal with before myself and Peter left, I wished we did more of this before we left as it was very enjoyable and makes me very thankful.

5. All the Shops Plymouth has to Offer

I was very fortunate in Plymouth to have a good range of high street shops, ones that I would shop in quite regularly. You don’t even realise until you lose these how much you’ll miss them! Unfortunately, I do not have LUSH, Primark, Matalan nor The Range places I normally would shop in every month! For me, it’s now a 40-minute journey to Milton Keynes to be able to enjoy these places!

Which is such a bummer because I just love wandering into Primark and browsing their home range, hopefully, Milton Keynes has a larger home range, I would definitely live in there! Now that I’ve got a bath, a trip to LUSH is definitely on the table, especially as the partner is dying to try a bath bomb! I think I am dying to try a bath bomb as well, I’ve heard some of them are very relaxing.

I hope you have enjoyed this post! I hope it’s not too long but I really enjoyed writing this and does show how much I’m going to miss Plymouth. I can not believe it after 21 years, I’m no longer there. But Aylesbury starts a new chapter in my life.
