September 2017 – Video Games Day

One side of me that I don’t write too much about on An Ocean Glimmer, is my Geeky/Nerd side. I am a massive lover of all things Marvel and DC Comics, as well as playing video games! This is where today comes in, I thought it was very fitting to celebrate Video Games Day, who even knew this was a thing. I definitely did not until I came across it.

For long as I can remember, I’ve had some form of gaming controller in my hand, be it a PlayStation or even Xbox. Who remembers the Dreamcast? My all-time favourite console that I feel was definitely before its time! I’ve been very fortunate to grow up with a console, with my uncle a gamer as well, I’ve picked up a lot from him. I always used to play Halo and Dead or Alive with him!

It’s been pretty quiet at the moment for games, I think my favourite recent game has to be Horizon Zero Dawn and that came out in February. But with Christmas fast approaching, we have numerous games coming out to get you itching to play. It’s definitely the perfect time of year to clean up your controllers of dust and play some games.

I thought I would share with you today, those games that I am looking forward to over the next couple of months!

First up is Assassin’s Creed Origin, if you know me, you’ll know how much I adore the Assassin’s Creed Series! I have played every game since its release in 2007 and let me tell you there’s been quite a few. This is definitely the game I am purchasing this year, especially with it being based in Egpyt, I can not wait to see what they do with it and all the new features.

Assassin's Creed

Wolfenstein II The New Colossus looks brilliant! When the first one came out I was addicted, at first, I didn’t think it was my type of series but after playing it, oh how wrong I was. I love where they are taking the series and I can not wait, I only found this series when Wolfenstein: The New Order was released in 2014, over thirty years since the very first game was released!

To fuel my Motorsports/driving passion I have always been a sucker for the Need for Speed series. I grew up playing these games and the partner is addicted to them himself, Need for Speed Payback will be the twenty-third instalment in the series. They’ve definitely improved the mechanics of the game and I can not wait to see what I’ll be racing this time around.

Continuing on from Need for Speed, there’s another driving game that I’m excited about its release and that’s The Crew 2. I hit off really well with The Crew despite some bad reviews, but who listens to those? Because I certainly don’t. My favourite kind of racing is definitely open-world, I dislike track racing I just want to be let loose on the roads. I’m hoping it will be similar to the first one but with up to date cars.

Today I’m definitely going to be playing some games, I need to take advantage of my free-time while I’ve still got it and gaming is the perfect thing. Also, there’s no other way to enjoy celebrating Video Games Day. I would love to know your favourite game! What do you absolutely adore playing? Let me know in the comments.

  3. I must admit that I’m not really a video game person (sorry!) My brother is obsessed with Minecraft and Call of Duty, but all I ever played as a kid was the Sims haha! I found Sims so addictive, the hours I’d spend playing were just ridiculous! I’m glad you’re embracing your gamer girl side on your blog and sharing your passions with us!

  6. I’ve always loved playing computer games and playing on the PlayStation! For computer, I’d probably have to say my favourites are any of The Sims, or 102 Dalmatians: Puppies to the Rescue! Both were childhood favourites, and nothing will ever compare to them. My favourite PlayStation game, however, was, is, and always will be BurnOut!

  7. I love video games, I love the graphic and mechanics side to games because sadly I don’t know how to play them, I have no hand-eye co-ordination and that frustrates me when I try to play, haha but I do enjoy watching people play video games 🙂
