September Favourites

Can you believe that it’s the start of a new month? The leaves are starting to fall, candles are being lit and comfy jumpers are out! This must mean one thing, October is here. October is one of my favourite months, with both my Birthday and Christmas just around the corner, not to mention Halloween as well! For me Autumn is certainly one of the best months.

I do prefer the cold over the heat sometimes of our Summer, that’s actually when we do have a Summer here in the United Kingdom! With the beginning of a new month, comes my Favourites! I can not wait to share with you what I’ve been loving during September. It’s definitely been a hectic month for me, I will speak about this a little in my October Goals on Friday, so look out for that post.

Without further ado let’s begin my September Favourites!

As you know, I recently moved to Aylesbury, I won’t go into too much detail about this move as I spoke about this in my Goodbye Plymouth post. With my move, I’ve not been able to attend as many car meets as I would like with MG Rover South West Owners Club, one because of money and two because I’m now over five hours away from Plymouth, meaning it’s a lot harder to attend the meets.

One that’s been planned before we knew we were moving was Weston Super Mare Beach Meet. We attended this meet last year for the first time and I loved it! So it was a no-brainer to attend it this year. For 2017, they added something new, instead of just being a meet up with all the MG Rover guys, it would be a MacMillan Coffee Morning, or for us a whole day of eating cakes and drinking coffee.

Weston Super Mare

It was such a brilliant day, meeting up with those who I haven’t seen since before leaving Plymouth and having a good old catch up. We won’t be seeing one another until the New Year, so this meet was worthwhile. Of course, it also brought us together with those people who we have yet to meet and had only spoken to on Facebook.

We were able to raise a total of just over £200 for MacMillan, which was perfect as we were just giving a donation for the cake and coffee that was available, it is crazy how when you come together you can make a difference like this. It was such a brilliant day and it was lovely to see everyone, it was nice to see that we were missed as everyone was asking us if we were settled in and how things were going for us.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter and Instagram will know I am a Silverstone Race Maker, I have even written a post introducing this scheme. September saw me attending the British Touring Car Championship, this event was pretty special as a week beforehand I was confirmed as the official photographers for the Race Makers.

Meaning I could carry a camera around with me, to get shots of my fellow volunteers in action. I loved doing this role as it was very enjoyable and I’m very proud of all the photos! I am looking to upload some of my images soon to my social media so keep an eye out for them! The reason behind me taking the photos was for the new handbook that will be given to all the Race Makers for the next season.

I am really excited to see the handbook and see which photos have been included, this will be a great addition to my portfolio. Especially as this one of the different paths, I would like to go down for my career. I also had the opportunity to meet three of the drivers, Tom Chilton, Rob Huff and Andrew Jordan. I love meeting the drivers as they are really down to earth and you can speak with them for a little while!

I nearly met Tom when I visited Donington Park in March for their Season Launch but he left the garage before I could go down the stairs after dropping my media bib off. I was very determined to meet him as it’s his first season in Touring Cars and I’ve been following his racing career for a little while now. Fingers crossed I can attend more events at Silverstone next year with living in Aylesbury.

Most of the people I follow on Twitter are really struggling to increase their followers on Instagram. I am one of these people as well, unlike Twitter, I actually don’t know how to increase my following, so I’ve been on the same figure for a while now. Until recently when I finally reached 400 followers! I am soo thankful to everyone who has followed me on Instagram.

I do really try my best to upload to Instagram but I know I’ve been failing recently. I would love to increase my following even more, so I definitely need to up this game. I just need to get into the routine of taking more photos. So look out for these photos guys! I’m not promising anything, but I’m going to try. A big shout out to my Instagram and Twitter following, you are all amazing!

With finishing university in May, I’ve been able to up my blogging game a lot because I’ve not got a lot on my plate only work and the odd interview. You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been uploading posts three times a week now, more than my usual schedule. This is something I’m really proud of and all the posts I feel are good quality! There are some exciting things still to come to An Ocean Glimmer.

I’ve been very lucky this month and written posts in collaboration with brands, which is the one main things bloggers aim to achieve. I have also reached 6.5k views on An Ocean Glimmer! This is very crazy as I remember the day when I reached 1k views, feels like only yesterday. For me the milestones are only increasing and I’ve got all of you to thank!

I hope you have enjoyed this post! Sorry, it was a little longer than normal, there was just a lot to speak about in regards to September’s Favourites. Let me know in the comments, what you’ve been loving this month? I would love to know.

  1. It sounds like you’ve had a truly fabulous month! I used to love visiting Silverstone when I was younger, and BTCC was always a great reason for us to visit, although we haven’t been in a few years.. Hopefully you can go more regularly, being closer! 🖤

  2. Well done on raising £200 for macmillan! Like you said, it’s amazing how much you can raise just by a drink and cake but such a simple and easy thing to do. My partner had a macmillan coffee morning at work last week which I did a bit of baking for and they raised about the same amount! Also well done on reaching 400 followers on Instagram! That’s amazing, it’s such a struggle to grow at the moment! x

  3. Sounds like you had a brilliant September! I moved back to Scotland (hopefully permanently now!) and went away for a few days. And congratulations on your Instagram following! It is so so difficult to grow Instagram at the minute, even posting daily! Hope you have a brilliant October!

  4. Sounds like you’ve had a good month! A big congrats on 6.5k views that’s great!! And Instagram is bloody annoying for growing an audience on, I feel like even having quite a few followers doesn’t mean you’ll get attention or a lot of likes because of the annoying algorithm! They need to create some sort of new platform for photo sharing for us bloggers!

  7. Well done for raising so much money! It sounds like you had an amazing month, hope this one will be equally as good if not better! Instagram is a lost cause now I think, I lose more followers than I gain despite all my efforts. It’s just not for me, at least not until they fix this algorithm.
