I’ve finally Graduated!

You will all be pleased to know that I’ve finally graduated! After waiting since I finished back in May, I have finally graduated from the University of St Mark & St John. This was definitely a long time coming and I can’t believe I’ve made it. Of course, with me leaving four hours away, Yasmine and myself made a weekend out of it. This included seeing friends and family, exploring Plymouth and having some much-needed downtime.

My parents also came to Plymouth to see me graduate meaning it was a lovely to see them and spend some quality time with them. My graduation was held at the Plymouth Guildhall, right in the centre of Plymouth, it was nice to spend the day with my classmates who I haven’t seen since finishing. We were all happy to see one another and enjoyed dressing up to celebrate our graduation.

It was such a long day though! I had to be there for half nine with it not starting until eleven! This was because we had to make sure we had registered, received our tickets and got dressed up in our robes. I’m soo glad we had people there to help us as I would definitely not know how to do it probably. Before the ceremony, we were chatting and taking some cheeky photos!

When it was time though, the nerves definitely started, I know it was only a simple work across the stage but I was doing that in front of a few hundred people! Including my parents and Yasmine. This marked 3 years of university, complete. Something at times I thought wouldn’t happen but with everyone around me, I was able to achieve it. I graduated with a 2.1 for BA (Hons) Journalism, which is exactly what I wanted to achieve.

When I was looking around at jobs, this was the grade places wanted you to have your degree in. In my third year, I definitely pushed myself more to stay on track, at some points though I did feel I wouldn’t achieve it with poor work. But with my lecturers knowing this, they pointed me in the right direction and made sure I stayed on track. Which at any other university might not have happened!

Marjon is so small the lecturers all know you on a first name basis and they care about you and your grades. It was also nice to see my lecturers there and spend it with them. After the ceremony, I was able to chat with them and have a good catch up! They were both pleased with the fact that I had found a full-time job and I was settling well. They definitely came across very proud of excited for me, they watched what I’ve gone through.

To know they helped me, was a massive thing. Of course, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to them as they know my work ethic. It would definitely take me a little while to list out everything I enjoyed about being at Marjon as soo much happened to me there! It was definitely the best 3 years of my life and something I will most definitely not forget. There’s soo much I have to thank Marjon, my lecturers and classmates. Without them, I would most definitely not have been able to achieve what I had done.
