Treat Your Mum to a bakerdays Letterbox Cake

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and didn’t forget what yesterday was! Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about Mother’s Day, we all try our hardest to make this day special for that Mum figure in our lives. From taking them out to afternoon tea or an evening meal, or even something as simple as flowers and chocolates. Our Mum’s deserve a special day, I surprised my Mum with a Letterbox Cake from bakerdays.

This is actually the first Mother’s Day that I’ve not been with my Mum, I was still able to celebrate it with her as she came down from Nuneaton, along with my Dad and sisters. We didn’t do much to celebrate, I gave her a collection of presents as well as her card, she’s also received some gorgeous flowers! She was absolutely over the moon with the Letterbox Cake as well, asking me twenty questions about the company behind it.

Who are bakerdays I hear you ask?

bakerdays

bakerdays are the creator of the Letterbox Cake, a small celebration cake, that can be personalised for any occasion, to celebrate that next birthday, a baby shower or even an engagement. It’s postable meaning it fits through your letterbox, it’s the perfect gift to give or to send for anyone. Not only are they great bakers and innovators, they have developed a versatile colour and decorating process to create beautiful cakes.

It’s not just cakes bakerdays can produce, they can do party cakes and cupcakes which can be personalised with your own message as well as your own photo. There are over 1000 designs to chose from, I’m sure there’s something for everyone to find for that special occasion. If you’ve searched through all those designs and not found something you like, just let bakerdays know and they design one especially for you.

You can also add helium balloons, candles and many more gift items to make your order extra special. There’s also a range of recipes to chose from, fancy a traditional sponge cake or what about red velvet? They also have a selection of gluten and dairy free, meaning you don’t have to worry if you’ve got an intolerance or allergy. Now, shall we get stuck into what I received?

There’s a variety of designs you can choose from, you can either add your own message or image to celebrate Mother’s Day. For me, I’m not a massive fan of just including a message, this is like when I grab a personalised card from somewhere like Moonpig. Adding an image just makes the item a little more personalised, that’s why I went for the ‘Best mum cake‘ design, meaning I could add my own photo.

It’s not until you’re personalising things, that you realise you don’t have many photos of yourself and family. I went with this photo of my three sisters, Mum, uncle and auntie, as it’s the only recent photo of all of us together. With this design, you can only include one photo so I felt this one was the best to celebrate my Mum. The frame around it, including the love heart with Best Mum, really adds to the photo.

It makes the cake a little more colourful, as well as being able to tell what you’re celebrating with it. I was a little worried when I heard it was a letterbox cake, like isn’t it going to get damaged from dropping through the letterbox. Once you open the box, you realise that it’s inside a cake tin, which helps keep the cake together. When I opened the tin, I was pleased to see that the cake was not damaged.

If you want to treat your Mum to a little something, I would definitely recommend a Letterbox Cake, you could even have this delivered to your Mum just before Mother’s Day. This service is only available from bakerdays as well, meaning you definitely have something special here. As it’s the perfect size for a letterbox, it will be a brilliant surprise for your recipient.

The cake tasted amazing! It was definitely one of the best I’ve tasted in a while, I was easily able to cut it up into eight pieces. This was brilliant as it meant we could all have one each to enjoy. Yes, they were a little on the small side, but it worked. I can now see why they say it’s only for two people. The consistency of the cake was perfect, when I was cutting it up, it didn’t spilt or anything.

I’m not a massive fan of icing but this one wasn’t too sweet or strong, with it being a smaller piece you didn’t receive anything overpowering from the icing. All bakerdays cakes are made only a couple of days before delivery, which is perfect as it’s just like picking it up in store. The fluffiness of the cake was still there, we all enjoyed it a lot and I even think my Mum is going to buy them for future occasions!

The traditional reason for sending a Letterbox Cake was to show someone you care on their birthday or another special occasion – much like you would a card, but there’s now many other fun and inventive ways to use a Letterbox Cake, including:

  • Wedding Invitations and Favours
  • Be My Bridesmaid Gift
  • Party Invitations
  • New Baby Announcement
  • Will You Marry Me? surprise

For myself, I’m definitely going to keep bakerdays in mind for celebration cakes as I do enjoy the personal touch. Of course, you can pick any day for delivery so you can surprise that special someone before the big day or even on it. If you’re really organised, you can even pre-order a cake up to one year in advance! Love has gone into each cake, as it’s all handmade to order and only the best ingredients are used.

I hope you have enjoyed this post! What are your thoughts on bakerdays? Would it be something you’ll purchase to celebrate that special occasion?
