Over the past couple of months, I have shared with you some interesting National Day that people across the United Kingdom celebrate. Today is no different as we’re celebrating Evaluate Your Life Day. Sometimes it is a good idea to think deeply about your life, at least once a year. Today invites you to calm down and deliberate about the choices you took and which way you will keep on going.
Of course, there are always questions and thoughts that disappear from the mind, if you do not take the time to think about those things, perhaps they’ll come to haunt you one day. Therefore it is better to lean back and confront the complicated questions of life on Evaluate Your Life Day. I love the thought of this National Day, as it is a great opportunity to figure out if you’re on the correct path.
History of Evaluate Your Life Day
Evaluate Your Life Day was created by the people at Well Cat, with a motto of:
To encourage everyone to check and see if they’re really headed where they want to be.
Evaluating your life and understanding if you’re on the correct path is really important and this cannot be understated. We all get a little sidetracked, people and events come in and out of our lives but we cannot forget the main aim here. Without regular check-in, you won’t know if you’re on course, how are we to know and plan for the future?
How to celebrate Evaluate Your Life Day
There are a couple of ways to celebrate Evaluate Your Life Day, the main way is to reevaluate your life. Looking at your life and breaking down the different parts that make up our lives. Social, education and finance, look at each piece and break them down into its component parts to find out where you are along the path. Once you’ve broken everything up, now you can start cross-referencing how they relate to one another.
By doing this, you can see where you’ve arrived on the path of your life and what you need to change to get back on the correct path. There isn’t an exact magic formula to evaluate your life, we’re all different.
For me, I am a big fan of lists, so when I evaluate my life, it’s going to look like a series of lists:
- What makes me happy right now?
- What is making me stressed?
- What would I like to be doing?
- What things would I like to change?
- How can I make changes?
- When is the last time I truly did something for me?
I would recommend asking yourself the hard questions then look back at your answers. Of course, you cannot change your life dramatically overnight, but when you have a better picture of who you are in that snapshot of time you can build plans. Then start to put these into motion and hopefully, over time your life will start to look the way you want it to.
Overall I am pleased with how my life is going, but like anything, there is always room for improvement. Mentally I am doing great. I am reading and exploring new routes to expand my mind. I finally feel like I’m in a good place in terms of relationship and a career but I definitely need to get out and socialise more. I don’t really socialise much outside of my family.
Financially, there are problems, each month is different from the previous. I am in a good place with having enough for all my bills and to have a normal life but unfortunately, saving is a massive problem. It just seems like I go two steps forward but ten back as things happen in life that requires money. This is just natural but annoying at the same time! We’re still a big way off a mortgage for a house.
I hope you have enjoyed this post! What can you improve in your own life?
