Star Wars Wax Melts, Scoopable Wax with Geeky Melts

I adore supporting small businesses, as described in my How to Support Small Businesses post one of the easiest ways to support is to blog about them. I recently received a couple of goodies from Geeky Melts, home of Geeky soy wax melts. I have been supporting Geeky Melts for a little while now, it’s been great to watch the store grow and add new products.

All of her products are handmade by herself, congratulations go out to her here as she does this around her two years old! People like this are just so inspiring nothing stops them from being creative and doing what they love. Geeky Melts is the brainchild of Laura, an all-around geek, zombie enthusiast and cat lady.

Geeky Melts are made from biodegradable soy wax and high-quality vegan fragrance oil. Only biodegradable glitter is used so the sparkles are guilt free. Most of Geeky Melts wax packaging is plastic free and compostable, and whenever possible Laura even reuses postal materials too.

I love being supportive of small businesses here on An Ocean Glimmer, I have shared a couple of businesses including The Birdhouse Calligraphy and Dorkface. I thought I would do something a little different and host a Q&A with Laura. I thought this would add a more personal touch to my review.

So without further ado, let’s get into my questions for Laura, then I’ll chat about what I received!

1) What motivated you to start Geeky Melts?

I really wanted to be do something to support my family and use my creative side whilst being a stay at home mum. I love wax melts and the challenge of creating new geeky designs with them.

2) What is your favourite thing to create?

I love all the Halloween melts especially the anatomical hearts and sugar skulls. They’re my favourite moulds as they always look fab no matter what I do! I also love making the scoopable wax which is one of my newer products.

3) Have you got any new products coming?

Soon I’m going to be launching large coffin lid melts as well as redesigning my Dark Mark tubs with a new mould I’ve sourced! I’ll also be preparing for Christmas with some new scents.

4) What’s one piece of advice you’ll tell people about starting their own business?

Instagram! I’ve found this is the best way to find lots of like-minded people. I think a lot of people find their way to my Etsy via my Instagram. I spent a lot of time working on my account before I opened my shop and I think it made a real difference.

5) Where would you like your business to be in a year time?

I’d love to keep growing on Etsy and maybe even branch out to craft fairs and the like.

Laura very kindly gifted me a small selection of her wax melts, I wasted no time at all to unwrap them. I loved how they were wrapped, in brown paper with rainbow tape and of course the Geeky Melts logo, Laura has made these adorable. I love how she’s put this much thought into them, it definitely means a lot when you receive your purchase.

As you can see, I received a good mixture of wax melts including ones in different scents, from Black Rose & Oudh to Enchanted Forest and Seashells & Bergamot. They all smell amazing!

Black Rose & OudhA decadent, indulgent fragrance that is as complex as it is beautiful. Pretty Rose, meets dark, sexy Oudh, with a centre of cloves, Amber and Praline.

Enchanted Forest | Wander lost in a forest of evergreens as fresh fir needles fall among aromatic white cedar and musk, with a wintery whisper of citrus.

Seashells & Bergamot | A fresh, seaside ozonic scent, with bergamot, lemon and juniper on top of violets, jasmine and amber. Fresh and invigorating.

My favourite scent would definitely be Black Rose & Oudh, it’s soo different from what I’ve had previously. All three of these scents would definitely be enjoyed, no matter what the season. I adore how every wax melt from Geeky Melts is handmade, it’s great buying homemade, you’re helping someone with their own and small business.

It’s lovely that Laura has thought about the different seasons, a couple of the wax melts I received were specifically for Halloween. I can’t wait to see if she brings out festive wax melts! I can just picture them now, this does remind me that I’ve got a few Yankee Candles to use up from last year.

I would love for you to head over to Geeky Melts on Etsy and give Laura some love! I’m more than positive you will find something that you fall in love with. Laura also has her own Instagram and Twitter, this is where you will be kept up to date with all her work. Once I’ve finished all these I will be purchasing more!

I hope you have enjoyed this post! Do you prefer Wax Melts or Candles?

  1. What a great post! I always love hearing about businesses like this! I don’t really have a preference when it comes to wax melts or candles. As long as I like the scent, I’m happy to buy it either way. Thanks for sharing!
