Happy, Happy New Year. I hope January is treating you well, here we are a new month and of course a New Year. Things are going to continue being the same here on An Ocean Glimmer, I enjoy writing the content and I hope you enjoy reading. I’m really hopeful for 2019, there are a lot of good things to come. Today I am going to be reflecting on the Goals I set myself at the beginning of December.
I love reflecting and creating new Goals each month, there’s something about it that makes me more determined to achieve them. Of course, with a New Year comes resolutions, but that’s not me so I’ll be setting soon some Goals I would love to achieve over the course of 2019. My Monthly Goals will be in line with these Goals, to make them seem that little bit easier to achieve.
I have shared my adventures in my Monthly Favourites // December 2018 here. Before I set myself some new Goals for January, let’s reflect on my December Goals!
Complete Blogmas | Done! I’m so proud of myself for completing Blogmas. By doing 12 Days of Blogmas, I was able to concentrate on 12 posts and not 25! This allowed me to spend more time with friends and family, especially with me going back to Plymouth. Missed any of my posts? You can catch up with them all here!
1k Instagram Followers | Nope! So close, yet so far! I swear Instagram is the hardest social media platform to increase your following. I am currently 51 followers away, I really pushed myself in December but it just wasn’t enough. I have everything crossed that I’ll be able to achieve this very soon. If you’re not already following me, you can do so by heading over here.
1k Blog Views | Nope! I thought with 12 Days of Blogmas I could reach 1k blog views on An Ocean Glimmer. I was very, very close though at 826 for the whole of December. It might not be the 1k I originally planned to achieve but I’ve reached my best views for 2018. Leading to a total of 6,868 for the whole of 2018. Pretty good numbers if I say so myself.
Travel Home for Christmas | If you have read my December Favourites, you’ll I did travel down to Plymouth for Christmas. It was lovely spending the festive period with Yasmine’s family, it’s been a while since I’ve been there and it’s somewhere I’ll never forget. We did soo much while we were down there, from visiting friends and going shopping to going on a steam train and watching Aquaman.
Enjoy Christmas | Christmas was lovely! It was nice waking up with Yasmine and opening our presents together. We didn’t have so many presents to open, only little ones such as sweets and a couple of books. As you get older, presents become either harder to get or more expensive. We had a lovely meal and I think I ate a bit too much! All worth it though.
Let’s get to my January Goals!
Save 1k | This year I’m going to push both myself and Yasmine to save enough money for a house deposit. We struggled last year with most of our savings going on our cars! This year I have a good feeling, we were able to set up a Help to Buy ISA which means receiving money from the government to further help us.
Start Budgeting | I’ve always been careful with money, each month I look at exactly how much is going in and how much is going out. I’ve been pretty good recently at constantly putting away at least £500 each month. From January, I am going to start budgeting. I’ve got £40 each week for food and £40 each week for fuel, that should be more than enough and I’m going to keep to that!
1k Instagram Followers | I’ve lost count how many months I’ve been pushing to reach 1k followers on Instagram! I was soo close in December, I’m going to continue pushing myself and participating in follow threads and hopefully reach it in January.
500 Blog Followers | Something that I haven’t pushed in a while are my blog followers, as well as Instagram I would like to push my blog following. From sharing my blog more and participating in follow threads, I would love to reach 500 followers this month.
Start Exercising | Now I’m never one for new year, new me but I do need to start exercising more to feel better about myself. Alongside this, it does mean eating better. I just want to feel good about myself and at the moment, I don’t! I did attempt running a couple of times a week but this really isn’t for me. Instead, I’m going to be walking more while exploring new places.
Read 1 Book | During the Christmas break, I was able to read two books. The most I’ve ever read in about three months. I reached my Goodreads 2018 Reading Challenge but only just! This year I’m going to push myself, I do need to set my new Goal. To start the year off well, I would love to read at least one book this month.
