For the past 3 years, I have set myself a challenge on Goodreads, each year I have done pretty well I would say! I’m not one of those who set massive Goals, for me they always have to be realistic. As we’re into a new year, I thought now would be a good time to review my 2019 Goodreads Challenge. Once I’ve reflected on last year, I’ll be moving ahead to 2020 and setting this year Goodreads Challenge.
At the beginning of 2019, I set myself the Goal of reading 20 books. For some people, this could sound like a small Goal but after completing my 2018 Goodreads Challenge of reading 15 books, 20 books sounded a good Goal for the next year. Unfortunately, 2019 was not my year for books, I was only able to read 7 books, 8 less than the year before. There was just so much going on AND as you know, there were a lot of months where I did not blog.
I love Goodreads as it keeps you on track but also provides some great insights afterwards. That’s exactly what I’m going to go through with you today.
As mentioned above, I read 7 books in total, that means I read 1,709 pages which seems a lot when you think of it that way!
The seven books were:
- Collection of The Negatives
- Deadpool Bestest Battles
- Turncoat
- Beauty’s Curse
- Gemenicia
- Discoucia
My first review of the year was on Collection of The Negative by Violet St. Karl:

Then my last review of the year was on The Devil’s Apprentice by Kenneth B. Andersen.

Even though I didn’t read that many books in 2019, it was still a good year for reading. I read some amazing books, I think by far my favourite was Discoucia. It’s such a different book to what I would normally read but I fell in love! Which is one of the reasons why I take part in Book Blog Tours as I come across some interesting books that normally I wouldn’t think I would enjoy.
By reflecting on 2019, I’m now in a good position to set my 2020 Goodreads Challenge. For 2020, I have set myself the challenge of reading 20 books. I know what you’re thinking, you didn’t even reach half of that in 2019. Well, I’m always up for a challenge and I keep the same Goal until I’ve achieved it. I’m sure you’re now asking how am I going to achieve this.
Well, I’m going to achieve is by doing two things, spending less time online and completing Blog Book Tours, hopefully then can be monthly. I have some lined up for the next couple of weeks, I’m excited to share with you these reviews. Also, I’m very excited to see what the future brings for my reading journey and An Ocean Glimmer. I have everything crossed for a good 2020.
Thank-you for reading. What is your Reading Challenge for 2020?

I definitely think that it’s quality over quantity! As long as you love the books you read that’s all that should matter!
