Here in the UK, we have been in lockdown since Monday 23 March. With working in PR and Marketing, I have been able to continue working, Monday to Friday, from home of course. It’s been an interesting one as in the past, it’s only been one or two days maximum. So I haven’t had very much downtime during the week to think, what should I do today?
I know there are a lot of people who unfortunately have been furloughed, Yasmine is one of them so I thought today I would share with you some ways to keep busy during the lockdown. Just remember, we’re all in this together and if you need someone to speak to, I am always here. I’m lucky as I live with family but I know some people are on their own.
Here are 6 ways to keep busy during the lockdown.
1. Get out in your garden
Now it’s Spring, it’s the perfect time to sit outside in the garden. If like me, you don’t have a massive garden, I still recommend getting out there. How about do some colouring in the garden? Or reading your book. Outside is a completely different scenery, yes we can’t go to the park, but imagine your garden is the park. It’s definitely better than being cooped up indoors all day!
2. Do some colouring
Who doesn’t love colouring? It’s relaxing and you can wish the hours away. I’m glad I took my box of artist supplies with me, instead of at my parent’s. I have spent at least one evening just colouring away. It’s amazing to be creative! Also, it puts your mind in a different world, where you’re able to forget about what’s going on. Now, where did I put all those colouring books?
3. Watch everything on Prime, Netflix and Disney+
There’s not a lot of television at the moment so if you’re struggling with something to watch, I would totally recommend Amazon Prime, Netflix and Disney+. If like me, you have watched everything on Prime and Netflix, I would definitely recommend Disney+! I grew up watching Disney Channel, there’s so much from my childhood. You’ve got all the time in the word, so binge-watch all those movies and TV shows you’ve been meaning to watch.
4. Read a book, or two
I’m sure we’ve all got that one shelf full of books that have never been read. Well now is the time too! I have already caught up on two of my comic book series. Reading is a great way to lose track of time and escape to a different world. I am very interesting to see how many books I can read by the end of the lockdown. Hopefully, this will mean my Goodreads Challenge will look healthy.
5. Get your exercise
If like me, you’re missing the gym and a routine, don’t worry. You can still exercise and get some fresh air. Since the start of the lockdown I have done my daily exercise, completing a total of just under 20 miles. With the weather improving, now is the perfect time to explore your local area. I’m trying to walk a different journey each time so I don’t get bored of the journey. If you can, try and least go for a walk each day. You’ll feel so much better for it.
6. Spring clean your house
Last but no means least, how about a little Spring clean? As mentioned in my favourite things about Spring, I love a good Spring clean. This is a great way to feel refreshed and ready for the new season. You have all the time in the world, no worry about not finishing something within the day. How about going through everything in your kitchen cupboards? Or cleaning out under the bed?
