Bedtime Beauty Routine

There is that one thing that we all need that makes us less miserable! That would be sleep, I know if I don’t have a good nights sleep, you don’t want to mess with me in the morning. For me, I do find it hard to get to sleep, so there are a couple of things I do to help me wind down and relax for the evening.

At the moment I am pretty stressed with the move, so I thought now would be a great opportunity to share with you my Bedtime Beauty Routine! The easiest way I felt to share with you my routine, would be to go through step by step my evening. Let’s begin with;

The Devil’s Poetry Blog Tour

Since finishing university, I have had a lot of time on my hands, so I’ve been using this time to read! With stressful deadlines and late nights, I haven’t had the time to read, so it’s perfect to have this time to read. I loved taking part in the Neverland Blog Tour for Those Who Lie and I’ve been lucky enough to take part in another Blog Tour, this time for The Devil’s Poetry by Louise Cole. I am the sixth stop on the amazing The Devil’s Poetry Blog Tour.

The Devil’s Poetry? Let me tell you a little bit about it;

Questions are dangerous but answers can be deadly.

Callie’s world will be lost to war – unless she can unlock the magic of an ancient manuscript. She and her friends will be sent to the front line. Many of them won’t come back. When a secret order tells her she can bring peace by reading from a book, it seems an easy solution – too easy. Callie soon finds herself hunted, trapped between desperate allies and diabolical enemies.

The Order is every bit as ruthless as the paranormal Cadaveri. Callie can only trust two people – her best friend and her ex-marine bodyguard. And they are on different sides. She must decide: how far will she go to stop a war?

Dare she read this book? What’s the price – and who pays it?

The Devil’s Poetry is properly one of my favourite books I have ever read! I sure have read a lot of books, just look at my bookcase. From the first moment of reading, I knew I would fall in love because I was hooked from the very first chapter. I would call it an unputdownable book, every second I had, I was buried in the mystery that surrounds Callie being a ‘Reader’. When it ended, well I was disappointed!

It’s crazy how many different emotions Louise was able to capture in the book, one moment I would be feeling scared for Callie‘s and the world’s future, then heartbreak for Callie when she finds out the truth about her mother. There’s also that small part of you that feels hope, hope that everything will turn out okay. Not just for Callie but her family and friends, as well as the rest of the world.

I was able to connect with all the main characters, Callie, Jace and Ella, I felt like I knew them well. My favourite part was how you didn’t just read Callie‘s point of view, you were thrust into the lives of the other characters! You knew exactly what was happening for the other characters. Including the Cadaveri, the ‘white-eyed’ guys and knowing what was happening with different countries Defense Ministers.

I love books that focus on different points of views, it gives you more information for the main arch of the story. I love the different pop culture references Louise has included! Seeing as I’m a massive Formula 1 fan, I love the funny remark to Grand Prix when Ella was driving over 90 to get away. That was a massive hit for the die hard motorsports fan here.

How about a little about the author, Louise Cole;

Louise has spent her life reading and writing. She read English at Oxford – read being the operative word – and hasn’t stopped reading since. In her day-job she is an award-winning journalist, a former business magazine editor and director of a media agency. She writes about business but mainly the business of moving things around: transport, logistics, trucks, ships, and people.

You can follow her on Twitter.

As I previously said, I am only the sixth stop on The Devil’s Poetry Blog Tour, if you have enjoyed this post, there are still eight more stops to fuel your love! I would love for you to go and give some love to Louise and if you can not wait any longer to read it for yourself, you can buy The Devil’s Poetry to read in Ebook (Kindle Format) or paperback from Amazon. You can also find it on Goodreads now!

I hope you have enjoyed this little review! I highly recommend The Devil’s Poetry to all those who love a good mystery.

The Geeky Girl Tag

As you’ll know, along with being a Beauty and Lifestyle Blogger, there is another side to me, I am a massive Geek at heart! I love everything from Vampire Diaries to Harry Potter and many great games. Recently I came across a tag on ZombieGoddess Beauty called The Geeky Girl Tag, I was in love with it and knew I needed to do it for myself, especially as I don’t normally speak about my geek side.

Pastille Magazine

You’ll all know the I’ve just finished my third year of university, but not before I created a 32-page magazine. Overall this is what I’ve loved the most during my time at the University of St Mark & St John, as I’ve created a lot of work that can be added to my portfolio. Rather than everything being coursework, we make actual things, including Radio and Film packages which I can show to future employers.

For my last module, I created a 32-page magazine with Corinne Bygrave from Organic By Nerve and another fellow Marjon student, Hannah Perks. We decided to create something very similar to Sound, the magazine we produced last semester, we had such a great time exploring Plymouth for the production of this magazine, that we felt it was fitting to create our own.

Become a Ninja Warrior for the day at Adrenalin

Inspired by the Japanese assault course game show, Ninja Warrior, Adrenalin Urban Activity Centre opened its doors in Plymouth three months ago. Adrenalin is not just about conquering the fearsome but fun assault course, you are able to bounce as much as you like on the trampolines, test your climbing skills and try your hand at free running.

Corinne from Organic By Nerve and I popped along to check it out for ourselves and to see how much fun we could have in the space of an hour. We were both a little nervous at first, as we had never been before and didn’t know what to expect. The staff were friendly and helpful, with them easing you into the experience, especially if you’ve never been before.

May Favourites

Is it just me or is 2017 going really quickly!? It’s now June which means another Favourites, let’s see what I’ve been loving during May. When I came home from Italy, the partner and myself saw Fast and Furious 8. I have loved this movie series since he introduced it to me. I love everything it stands for, family and the cars. I will admit, I cried a lot!!

I loved the direction they’ve taken this film in, it’s a lot more about family than the cars. I felt really sorry for Dominic, as he didn’t know what way to turn, in the end it worked out well for everyone. I love the return of Deckard and Owen Shaw, Jason Statham, like yees, I love him. All I’m going to say is you just have to watch this, so I’m not going to give away too much.

Life Update – I’m Back!

Good news guys, I am back! I’m sorry for not being around the whole of May, there’s been a lot going on in my life. If you follow me on either Twitter or Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve officially finished university! Woop, woop! This is another reason for not blogging, but I am pleased to say, there will be one post at least once a week.

You may be lucky and have two, all depending on if I’ve got good content to produce for you. Another big milestone in my life currently is the big move! Now, my Dad has officially left the Royal Navy, which means as a family we have to move as we live in a Navy property. Meaning, we are moving five hours up the road! I live in Plymouth, a city in the South West, my family all live in the Midlands.

April 2017 – World Stationery Day

As most of you will know, I am a massive stationery fan! I have so much that I am never at a lost for notebooks, or anything stationery related for that matter. Recently I found out that today, Wednesday 26 April 2017 is World Stationery Day, I swear there is a National Day for anything and everything now a days. I jumped at the chances of celebrating this day as I am a stationery addict.

I am sure you are all thinking what exactly is World Stationery Day, what is the point of this celebration? Well, after some careful research on their website, I have learnt a lot about the day. It is a day of celebration for the written word and all things stationery. Their aim, to get people all over the world talking and writing about stationery as well as speaking about why writing by hand is important.
