Monthly Favourites // October 2018

Hello November! Goodbye October!

The past month has been kind to me, I’ve still been very busy and enjoying a lot of different things. At moments October has felt a long month but now looking back, it’s gone really quickly! October has always been a good month, for me, Autumn kicks off and I can start enjoying the holidays.

Before we go full steam ahead for November, let’s first review October as I said above, there’s quite a lot to share with you! One thing first, I hope you all enjoyed Halloween and hopefully had a load of goodies. I’m really excited for November as it’s my birthday month! Even though it’s getting colder, I’ve still got exciting outdoor plans.

LUSH Spring Haul

I think there’s a theme going on here, recently I visited Westgate in Oxford, a recently remodelled Shopping Centre. Now, it opened late last year, perfect timing for Christmas! For an exploration though, not good timing, I’m not a fan of busy and crowded places, I’ve said to Yasmine since I heard about it’s re-opening, we should go and visit. Finally, we had the opportunity to go visit!

I’m not going to go too much in depth about Westgate and my adventure there, as you’ll see from the title, this post isn’t about that. Some could say it’s about something so much better! That’s right I’m talking about LUSH, somewhere I’ve become addicted too since leaving Plymouth actually. We’re not lucky to have one in Aylesbury, our closest is either Oxford or Milton Keynes. Depending on what way you want to go!

March is definitely going to be no different, I love reflecting on my goals as it definitely gives me the motivation I require as well as making sure I am actually achieving what I want to.

Before I set myself some new Goals for March, let’s reflect on my February Goals!

LUSH Christmas Haul

For Blogmas 2017, I did a first impression post for LUSH Cosmetics, now I know what you are thinking! Gemma, you have only just tried LUSH!? Well, before moving to Aylesbury, I had no bath only a shower, but now I am lucky enough to be able to have a bath every weekend. I won’t explain too much here as you can read all about why in my impression post. Myself and Yasmine have now become addicted to LUSH bath bombs!

As you know, I went down to Plymouth with Yasmine to see in the New Year with her family and our friends. Meaning we couldn’t come back to Aylesbury without some LUSH treats. I was able to take advantage of their January sale, where they had their Christmas products on 50% off! Great right! Everyone went a bit crazy for this sale, I don’t really blame them as you’re saving yourself a lot.

I know it’s a little late now for a LUSH Christmas Haul, but seeing as I didn’t actually buy them until AFTER Christmas, I’ve only just finished using them! Now, shall we get started with this small LUSH Haul?

Monthly Goals // February 2018

Today is the day to be looking back at the Goals I set for January, as well as setting myself some new ones for the upcoming month of February. I hope you are all well and have had a good start to the year, I hope it’s not been stressful and the New Year has rewarded you. It feels like yesterday that I was setting Goals for January, so I can’t believe it’s already February.

This month should be a good one for not only myself but Yasmine, I briefly spoke about this in my January Favourites this week, I don’t want to be repeating myself so please head here to see what I loved in January and what is in store in February for myself. I love reflecting on my goals, it seems to give me the motivation I require, as well as figuring out what I need to do each month.

Before I set myself some new Goals for February, let’s reflect on my January Goals!

This Time Next Year Tag 2018

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I posted the This Time Next Year Tag on An Ocean Glimmer. What is the This Time Next Year Tag I hear you say? Well, it’s a tag created by Sarah Lemmon, aka Little Reader, it’s basically inspired by a British TV Show where you see people present their goals for next year. Then it flashes forward 365 days later to see if they have achieved them.

This is how the tag will work:

  • Thank the person who tagged you
  • Write your goals for next year
  • Write how you’re going to achieve your goals
  • Tag at least 5 of your blogger friends to share their goals
  • Then if you wish in 365 days write a post for everyone to see if you have been successful or not!

If I’m honest, I completely forgot I did this until someone on Twitter spoke about the tag themselves. I just knew I had to read the post again so I could reflect on my goals, I was a little worried if I was successful but I was actually quite surprised! I also forgot what I wrote, so it was nice to reread it to see if I had completed them in 2017.

2017 Recap

This Time Next Year I will have reached 100 followers on my blog ✔️

This one is complete! This was a massive success for me as I actually managed to reach 281 followers on An Ocean Glimmer.

This Time Next Year I will have a graduate job ✔️

I did one better than a graduate job, I was able to find a junior position with 4CM, a digital, marketing & PR agency in Milton Keynes. I’m soo happy with this job and I can not wait to grow with the company.

This Time Next Year I will have reached 1,000 followers on Twitter ✔️

Smashed this goal as well! If you read my Goals each month, you’ll know that I’m currently targeting 3k followers as I’m currently on 2,627.

This Time Next Year I will have enough money saved up to buy my own home ❌

Unfortunately, this is the only goal here I was unable to achieve! Which is a little disappointing but understandable as I didn’t get a full-time job until October meaning I wasn’t able to save enough each month. We both decided against the Help to Buy account and we’re going to save in our joint savings account.

I’m soo pleased to see my success here, 2017 was a great year and I’m very excited to see what 2018 will bring not only me, but my friends and family around me. I thought I would continue this tag and list some Goals for 2018. Since writing my goals every month, I’ve really pushed myself to achieve them, it’s a great motivation!

2018 Goals

This Time Next Year I will have reached 5k followers on Twitter

I did so well in 2017 by achieving just over 2.5k followers, that I really feel 5k followers is a manageable goal. I definitely need to spare some time to interact in blogger chats, as I feel this helped me to connect with new people.

This Time Next Year I will have reached 500 followers on my blog

I don’t really know what I did in 2017 to achieve over 250 followers, I think I’ll just continue this into 2018. I think if I continue to be consistent and create good content, I’ll get there.

This Time Next Year I will have moved into my own house

If you have been reading my monthly Goals, you’ll know that I’ve been doing quite well-saving money as I keep setting myself a monthly goal. I really do think 2018 is the year!

This Time Next Year I will have improved my fitness

By this I don’t mean doing a 10k marathon or going to the gym every day, I just want to be a little fitter and don’t die going up three flights of stairs at work. I hope having a walk every lunchtime at work will help here!

This Time Next Year I will have improved my photography

This is a massive one for me as I’ve always loved photography but my photos are not 100%, I really hope by thinking a little bit more about my photos I’ll achieve this. There’s definitely been an improvement from when I first started!

I hope you like this little recap. There will be a post soon with my Goals for this year, so look out for that! At the moment though, I would love to know in the comments your Goals for 2018, is there anything you would love to achieve?

November Goals

Well here we go, it’s officially a new month which means I need to set out some goals for November. I have really enjoyed writing these posts as it pushes me to achieve each month, setting yourself goals is really good. This has helped me over the last couple of months and I really hope you are enjoying them. Before we get into my November Goals, I wanted to review my October Goals. It’s as good setting goals as reviewing them at each month.

After many months, I have finally graduated! I spoke about the day briefly in my October Favourites but I will be doing a full post soon. I have yet to read more than one book… Which is very disappointing as I thought I could do it this month! To hopefully achieve this, I will read a book rather than Twitter.
