An introduction to: Beauties on Fire

A few months ago, I was invited to join Beauties on Fire. After looking on their Facebook page, I felt the group was perfect to help me process further with my blog. But what exactly is Beauties on Fire I hear you say, here’s a little bit about the group.

What is Beauties on Fire?

Beauties on Fire is a group of fashion and beauty bloggers created by the wonderful Elisabeth Foust from Everything and Nothin’. Each week we discuss a new theme. All ideas are added into a poll that is tweeted out to all our followers. Once the winning vote is decided, we begin creating our themed posts.

Beauty bloggers create a beauty look inspired the theme. Fashion bloggers create a fashion look inspired the theme. The posts are combined via a link-up that is posted every Thursday, and bloggers will add their posts to the link up at the bottom of the host blogger’s post. We all share and comment on each other’s posts.

This is a great way to gain more traffic, connect with other beauty/fashion bloggers, and most importantly, we have FUN! Andi created our amazing logo and Caleigh came up with the Beauties on Fire name. We really have an amazing group of ladies and always welcome more. If you want to gain more followers, traffic, and have loads of fun, be sure to join us!

Introduction: An Ocean Glimmer

1.Tell us a little about your blog and why you decided to start blogging

On my blog, you’ll find all kind of lifestyle and beauty posts. I love reviewing things I’ve loved. Anything from cute hand creams and lotions, to theatre performances and subscription boxes. There’s so many different places to explore in and around Plymouth, so I sometimes even speak about my adventures.

I started blogging thanks to my College, I studied Media and they said we had to have a blog so we can have all our work in one place. Now it’s turned from being a chore to something I enjoy massively and have content scheduled on a weekly basis! Only problem, I seem to be able to get into writing for my blog and not University work.

2.How long have you been blogging?

I’ve been blogging for nearly six years now, when I started it in my first year of college, it was on Tumblr and called Media Queen. Last year was the turning point for my blog, it changed from Media Queen to An Ocean Glimmer. I also changed platforms as I’m now on WordPress, the best decision of my life.

3.Do you consider yourself a fashion blogger, beauty blogger, or both?

I consider myself a beauty blogger, as well as being a lifestyle blogger. I’m not very stylish so I haven’t managed to crack the fashion industry. I’m not very good with make-up either, I suffer with really bad dry skin, so it’s a struggle to find products that won’t affect me. But I love using hand creams and lotions, so I’m always blogging about them.

4.List 3 things you love to do besides blogging

I’m a freelance journalist for The Checkered Flag (Motorsports Website)

Attend car meets with the other half (He’s the one that got me into it)

I love reading, anything from a comic to a fictional book.

5.What style of makeup do you enjoy the most: Natural, Trendy, Glamorous? Show us some of your best looks. Also, what is one beauty product you can’t live without and why.

I love the natural approach to make-up, as I said previously, I have really bad skin, so I have to be careful with what I use. But it doesn’t mean I don’t like using a touch of mascara to make my eyes pop!

That one beauty product I can’t live without is probably nail polish, I adore having my nails different colours. Especially with being blessed with long and strong nails, I love it!

So there’s a little bit about me and Beauties on Fire, I would love it for you to go and check out the group yourself HERE! Everyone is really helpful and friendly, so if you’re struggling with your blog, there’s some lovely people on hand to help you!

      2. I know! There’s not many of us out there haha. And I just have to get used to the rear sliding out from under me without panicking about not being able to control it. Other than that, the inertia doesn’t scare me one bit 😂 a friend of my husband’s took me on my first drift ride along and it was an amazing experience. I wasn’t screaming or freaking out lol.
