My Favourite Moments Since Becoming a Blogger

As the day, month and year go by, we are creating memories and moments, I’m such a big advocate of creating moments to remember. It has become easier to create memories thanks to the digital change, I remember growing up and having to wait weeks until you could view the images you snapped. Now all smartphones are cable of showing the image instantly.

Today, I thought I would do a special post, I have been blogging since October 2013, meaning this year I will be celebrating six years of An Ocean Glimmer. I thought I would go back through the archive of An Ocean Glimmer and share with you a couple of my favourite moments since becoming a blogger. Now grab yourself a cuppa and a couple of snacks, this is going to be a long one!

Goodbye Theatre Royal Plymouth

For the past couple of months, I have been apart of one of the most amazing opportunities. Theatre Royal Plymouth created a scheme for bloggers in Plymouth, with no previous experience in the theatre industry I jumped at this opportunity and then I received the amazing news that I gained a place on the scheme. With there being such a big interest in the scheme, the Theatre wanted to make it a quarterly opportunity, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Now the Spring term is over, it is time to say goodbye to the Theatre, as ten new bloggers are getting their backstage experience. Before saying farewell, I would like to chat about the scheme, first up! What did I enjoy the most? It would have to be seeing parts of performances that you wouldn’t normally, as well as meeting cast members. This was the whole aim of the scheme, we were never there to review the performance, we would speak about our backstage experience.

The Star Seekers

On Wednesday evening, I had the amazing opportunity to watch The Star Seekers presented by Wardrobe Ensemble at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. This opportunity was made possible because I am on the Bloggers Scheme at the Theatre, if you don’t know what this scheme is about, read my short announcement for it here.

I was pretty excited for this performance and I am pleased to say I was not disappointed. Even though this performance is aimed at children, I absolutely loved it! You meet Alph (Ben), Betty (Jessie) and Gammo (Jack) three astronauts, who are sent on a mission by Doctor Doctor. They must find the three missing orbs to fix the Infinite Energy Fusion Drive.

Danza Contemporánea de Cuba

Last week, I had the amazing opportunity to watch Danza Contemporánea de Cuba presented by Dance Consortium at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. This opportunity was made possible because I am on the Bloggers Scheme at the Theatre, if you don’t know what this scheme is about, read my short announcement for it here.

We were in for a treat as before the show, we had a Q&A with three of the performers, Laura Rios Curbelo, Claudia Rodriguez Pozo and Norge Cedeño Raffo. It was lovely to meet them, as we got to ask them some interesting questions to know more about them and what they do with Dance ConsortiumDanza Contemporánea de Cuba was founded in 1959, they have become the nation’s flagship contemporary dance troupe.

Blogmas Day 13 // Gloria in the Mist

I was recently invited by Theatre Royal Plymouth to attend Gloria in the Mist, through the Bloggers Scheme. If you don’t know what this scheme is about, read my short announcement for it here. This is the second performance I have watched with the other bloggers, after we watched BIG The Musical for our launch evening.

We were in for a massive treat here, as not only were we watching the show but also meeting the comedy duo Spitz & Co. Susie Donkin and Pauline Morel met at a Spymonkey Clown workshop, it was this meeting where Spitz & Co was created. Gloria in the Mist is actually a sequel to Gloriator, a version of the Hollywood blockbuster Gladiator.
